About the game
Select Multiplication Facts is a free online math game for Grade 3 students learning multiplication facts. Each round shows a target product (say, 24) and a set of multiplication expressions. Players drag every expression that equals the target onto the truck (3 × 8, 4 × 6, 6 × 4, 8 × 3 all load; 5 × 6 doesn't). Across 3 rounds, students begin to see that the same product can come from several different fact pairs — the foundation of fact families and, later, factoring.

How Cuemath Tutors Use This Game
Tutors use this when a student knows isolated multiplication facts but doesn't yet see the connections between them. The truck game forces a single question: which facts share a product? Once a child sees 3 × 8 and 4 × 6 land on the same truck, the abstract idea of equivalent products turns into something visible.
Once students have played a few rounds, tutors often ask "which other facts give the same total?" before moving on. That question becomes the bridge to fact families and to division — if 4 × 6 = 24, then 24 ÷ 4 = 6 and 24 ÷ 6 = 4 are sitting right there.

What does it mean to select multiplication facts that equal a target product?
A target product is a number — like 24. A multiplication fact is an expression like 3 × 8 or 4 × 6. Selecting multiplication facts that equal a target means picking every expression in front of you that multiplies to that exact number. For 24, the matching facts include 3 × 8, 4 × 6, 6 × 4, 8 × 3, and 2 × 12. The same total can come from many different multiplications — that's the whole point.
Why is recognising multiple facts for the same product important?
It's the foundation of fact families. When a child sees 3 × 8 and 4 × 6 both equal 24, they're not just memorising one fact — they're building a network. That network is what makes division feel natural later (if 4 × 6 = 24, then 24 ÷ 4 must be 6), and what makes factoring possible in middle school. The point isn't speed; it's seeing connections between facts.
Does the game explain how to play?
No — the game doesn't need one. The truck shows the target product up front, and the screen of multiplication facts makes the goal obvious: drag every matching fact onto the truck. Kids can start playing the moment the page loads.
How long does it take to play?
A full playthrough of all 3 rounds takes about 5 minutes. A single round takes one to two minutes. There's no pressure to finish — the game saves progress in-session and can be restarted anytime.
Is the game free? Will it stay free?
Yes. Select Multiplication Facts is free to play now and will remain free. It's part of Cuemath Playground — a library of games that Cuemath tutors use with paying students, made freely available as part of Cuemath's mission to make every child MathFit. No signups, no paywalls, no hidden tiers.
Are there ads or distractions in the game?
No. The game has no third-party ads, no pop-ups, no promotional interruptions, no chat, and no user-generated content. A child can play any round from start to finish with nothing on screen except the game itself.
What should my child learn after this?
Once a child is comfortable selecting multiplication facts that equal a target, the natural next steps are exploring fact families (each multiplication fact gives two division facts), practising the times tables up to 10 × 10, and beginning to factor — finding all the multiplication pairs that produce a number. All are Grade 3–4 topics covered in other Cuemath Playground games and in the full Grade 3 math curriculum.
How is this different from Math Gym in the Cuemath app?
This game lives on Cuemath's website as part of Cuemath Playground — a free, browser-based library of concept-specific games tied to grade-level curriculum (this one is built around Grade 3 multiplication facts). Math Gym is a separate section inside the Cuemath app, with daily strategy games, logic puzzles, and mental-math challenges — built around general mathematical fitness rather than a specific topic. Both belong to the MathFit journey, but they serve different purposes: Playground works through curriculum concepts; Math Gym builds daily practice across strategy, logic, and mental math. You don't need the app to play this game.
